Oren Teicher has been actively engaged in the independent bookstore community for more than 35 years. He served as the CEO of the American Booksellers Association for ten years until his retirement at the end of 2019. While at ABA, he founded the American Booksellers Foundation for Free Expression and was a nationally recognized leader of the Shop Local/Local First movement. He was the recipient of Publishers Weekly Person of the Year Award in 2013 and the National Book Foundation’s 2019 Literarian Award for outstanding service to the American Literary Community. He is a former Trustee of the White Plains (NY) Public Library and currently serves on the Board of the National Coalition Against Censorship. Oren is also a part owner of two independent bookshops in Denver, CO. and Oyster Bay, NY.
